Planting
API (Air Pollution Index), which is an index released by the Environmental Protection Department in various channels on a daily basis, has been consistently high in Hong Kong. The index is derived from transforming many complicated air quality data measured at an air quality monitoring station into a single number ranging from 0 to 500, for the objective of giving timely air quality information to the public in a simple manner, so that people will be advised before the onset of high air pollution levels and be aware of air pollution in the community. Frankly speaking, air pollution has been a long-lasting problem, and it is easily overlooked by us. As a responsible corporate citizen, Fuji Xerox Hong Kong organised a planting program at our office in October and November 2005. All employees were invited to join a Green Break - Growing African Violet! Although growing plants cannot contribute much to combat the large-scale air pollution problem, it can psychologically "green" our working life to make it even more productive.
| Externally, we sponsored and joined the five-year tree tending program which was organised by the OISCA HK Love Green Club in Sai Kung in November 2005. The program was welcomed by a lot of employees and their family members. |
