Product and Material Safety
Fuji Xerox firmly believes that product safety takes priority over everything else. The company takes the utmost effort to provide the market with products that customers can use with confidence. If a product related accident should occur, we will respond in good faith, take measures to prevent reoccurrence, and work to maintain and improve confidence in our products.
Fuji Xerox has incorporated a set of standard measures to guarantee safety in all processes - including planning, development, evaluation, procurement, production, sales, maintenance, and recycling - and to perform multi-faceted evaluations to ensure that nothing has been overlooked in relation to product safety. At the same time, product safety training programs are conducted for all employees to develop among them a common basic stance on product safety reforms. Furthermore, an Escalation System concerning Important Quality Issues and Serious Accidents has been established in October 2003. This system allows us to rapidly obtain information, and clarify, in accordance with the scale of the problem, where to issue reports and which organisations, responsible parties, authorities, and rules should correspond to the problem. As a result, it is possible to resolve problems faster and more accurately than in the past and to take measures to prevent reoccurrence.
In light of the European Union's Directive of Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) and other trends toward international environmental regulations, Fuji Xerox in February 2003 revised its 1999 Green Procurement Guidelines into Green Procurement Standards, which now involve component manufacturers and suppliers. The company is working closely with these manufacturers and suppliers to prevent or control the inclusion of certain hazardous substances in products and components and the use of these substances in production processes. Since April 2005, Fuji Xerox's digital multifunction devices/printers and other products have been produced in compliance with the RoHS Directive.

The MSDS index identifies the chemicals, their structures, and health hazards, as well as explains how a chemical substance can be safely handled, used, and stored.
