A caring company

Fuji Xerox Hong Kong is a good corporate citizen and a customer driven organisation. Its employees are highly respected professionals who are passionate customer champions. The company's quest for excellence and unmatched service helps Fuji Xerox to deliver benchmark returns to its shareholders and makes it a widely admired world-class company.

One of the keys to this achievement at Fuji Xerox is the adoption of a philosophy it calls the "Good Company Concept." Inaugurated in 1992, the concept promotes three attributes aimed at keeping the company, "Strong," "Kind" and "Interesting."

"Strong" companies can deliver quality products and services that satisfy customers and also reward its shareholders on an ongoing basis. Companies that are "kind," especially with regard to the environment, ethics and in social contribution to the community are also respected by staff, business partners and customers. "Interesting" companies, which grant their employees freedom to explore their potential and take an innovative approach to doing business, eventually find that staff, partners and customers remain with them because they regard the company as something quite special.

Because it is such a people-orientated company, Fuji Xerox Hong Kong has won numerous prestigious awards for its caring philosophy with respect to its employees and the community in which it does business.

The Hong Kong Council of Social Services awarded the company the Caring Company Award in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.

The company is also committed to quality and won the first Hong Kong Management Association Quality Award in 1991. In the 2003 Hong Kong Quality Circle Awards, organised by the Hong Kong Quality Management Association, Fuji Xerox Hong Kong won the Gold Award for the Service Sector category. In 2005, the company won the first Six Sigma Award.

Fuji Xerox Hong Kong was also awarded the prestigious "Superbrand" award in the Reader's Digest Readers' Choice survey for two consecutive years in 2003 and 2004.

Caring about the environment

As a responsible corporate citizen, Fuji Xerox maintains a continuous focus on environmental conservation. Fourteen Fuji Xerox operations in twelve Asia-Pacific countries, including Hong Kong, have acquired ISO 14001 Certification for environmental management standards.

And, as a result there have been some remarkable successes. For example, Fuji Xerox has been developing an extensive line up of energy-saving products designed to reduce power consumption at customers' offices. As a result, in 2006, 12 products covering six models, including ApeosPort/DocuCentre C7550 I series of digital colour multifunction devices won the Director General's price for energy conservation at the 17th annual Energy Conservation Awards held in Japan. This marked the eighth time that Fuji Xerox had won the award since 1999.

The award winning models reduced their energy consumption by 36 per cent and warm-up time has been cut to just a quarter of the time their predecessors required - all with no impact on printing speed or quality.

Paper supply is also a focus area and Fuji Xerox has long been concerned about the issue of deforestation and the impact on indigenous peoples. In 2006, the company surveyed and confirmed all of its suppliers in Japan and Asia Pacific were complying with the Environmental Health and Safety Requirements for Paper Procurement" which it established in 2004.

Fuji Xerox Hong Kong has a strong commitment to the protection of the environment and to the health and safety of its employees, customers, and neighbours. Fuji Xerox provides safe and environmental-friendly products. The company also helps reduce waste by collecting empty cartridges from customers for re-use.

In 2004, targeting "zero-landfill" as part of the company's used product recycling policy, Fuji Xerox created an integrated recycling system, based on an international resource recycling network that comprises nine markets in Asia Pacific including Hong Kong. The recycling system ensures that all used office equipment, including copiers, printers, and supplies such as toner cartridges, is collected from our Hong Kong customers, disassembled at a Fuji Xerox factory in Thailand, and classified into 64 different categories for recycling.

In 2005, Fuji Xerox won the Fuji Sankei Group Award - its fourth Global Environment Award. This was presented at the 14th Global Environment Award ceremony in recognition of the company's achievement of a balance surplus in its environmental accounting under its guiding principle of manufacturing with minimum use of new resources.
