Fuji Xerox Co. Ltd., the leading provider of document and knowledge management solutions has won a contract from DPEX Worldwide Express, to provide an end-to-end document management solution to streamline the carrier's document management processes and improve handling and tracking.
DPEX Worldwide Express, which specialises in moving urgent documents and small parcels worldwide, has thousands of export and import shipments daily. Each shipment bears a detailed consignment note which is not only required for audit purposes, but is also the reference point for customer enquiries.
"The DPEX network stretches across seven continents, providing the global business community with fast, reliable and secure express delivery to more than 180 countries and territories worldwide," said Donald Tay, Managing Director at DPEX Worldwide Express.
"Our mission is to meet and exceed our customers expectations by the highest standards of service quality through professionalism and commitment, and our vision is to work as a team to become a world-class provider of total transportation services across the globe. However our internal processes were not keeping pace with our goals. They included a large amount of tedious, error prone, manual systems and we needed a system that would improve our productivity and enable us to respond quickly and efficiently to customer enquiries."
Having thoroughly evaluated four different vendors' solutions, DPEX Worldwide Express chose Fuji Xerox to contain this massive amount of paperwork. One of the key reasons was its ability to link easily to the company's existing IT systems to enable the quick retrieval of document images.
"The Fuji Xerox solution includes our digital multifunction Document Centre 900 with Document WorkBench Adecpro software," said Debby Chan, Director of Marketing at Fuji Xerox. "With its ability to interface easily with DPEX Worldwide Express' existing IT systems, we felt that this would be the ideal solution. It is also easy to deploy and very user friendly, requiring little IT support and only minimal user training."
The Document Centre 900 combines a network printer that prints at 1,200 x 1,200 dpi, a network scanner that scans at 90 ipm at up to 600 dpi, and a multifunction copier that can output 90 pages per minute. However it delivers far more than printing, copying and scanning. It is an "'Open Office Enabler" with five intelligent services to support efficient intra/inter office collaboration. These include:
· Document Flow, which simplifies and automates scanning, image processing and document distribution.
· Device Management, which helps to enhance the administration of multifunction devices anywhere any time.
· Security, which prevents information leakage and unauthorised access to documents.
· Customisation, the flexible user interface enables the system to be tailored to suit individual work styles, thereby enhancing efficiency.
· Mobility, which enables users to manage devices and print documents via a web browser - any time anywhere.
With the addition of the Document Workbench software, the entire solution is capable of scanning, sorting, capturing data, verifying and indexing large quantities of different types of documents, in a pre-defined flow.
"Now we can simultaneously scan images at high speed, read barcodes, capture related information and automatically assign file names none of which we could do before," said Tay. "Our manpower resources are also better deployed now that we have dispensed with our manual processes, and we are saving valuable time and operating costs."
The DPEX Network stretches across seven continents, providing the global business community with fast, reliable and secure express delivery to more than 180 countries and territories worldwide. Our worldwide network of offices and agencies are substantial industry express companies in their respective countries, providing peace of mind to our local customers.
